Republican Apologetics

Moral or social issues are and must remain a big deal. Without morals, it is easier for a person to condone the government’s taking of income rightfully earned by an individual, at the point of a gun, and redistribute it to someone who did not earn it. Another part of the moral dilemma problem for Republicans is the defense of conservative values and beliefs. There are so many issues which should be social or moral issues which have made into political issues. A good example of this is abortion. It has been made into a “right” for a...

Illinois catches up with the rest of the nation, at gunpoint.

Yesterday, in a 2-1 decision, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Illinois’ ban on carrying concealed weapons.   And so the last state in the nation without any such provision will be forced to create one within 180 days.  Gun rights advocates cheered the decision while opponents downplayed it’s significance.  So what have gun-rights supporters won?  At the moment it is difficult to tell.  Let’s review a few possible scenarios. Wanted: More Jackie Robinsons

I grew up in the ” Black Is Beautiful ” era ( late 1960s-1970 ) Surrounded by Afros; platform shoes and EBONY magazine I chose another path alot more old school than theirs.   While I differed with the socialism openly embraced then, I credit that era for making it OK to stand up for ourselves. Captain America’s Message To Today’s Patriots.

Captain America has been a comic book inspiration for generations.   His superhuman patriotism is a welcome alternative to present attitudes. Born on the cusp of the Great Depression and World War II, Captain America is particularly relevant now as we grapple with a Great Recession and formerly named Global War On Terror ( GWOT ). I’m glad Cap has recently returned to the big screen. A country too “cool” to be patriotic may soon find itself out of business. Like us, he was an ordinary American with an extraordinary desire to serve our nation. While there...
