On March 30th, 1981 he wore a new suit to work as a special agent with the United States Secret Service. By days’ end he’d wear something else:
The title of the man who saved president Ronald Reagan’s life!
I was in high school when the news broke that there was an attempt on President Reagan’s life. What happened that day is etched in my mind.
The video speaks for itself:
McCarthy heard the gun fire, turned, and deliberately placed his body in the line of fire to protect the president of the United States.
He didn’t hesitate.
He didn’t seek cover.
There’s a lesson there for the rest of us:
Sometimes we have to risk life itself for a greater good.
America needs people like Tim McCarthy who put country before self.
