Comrade Obama Sides Against Religious Liberty and Homeschooling

Comrade Obama Sides Against Religious Liberty and Homeschooling

For anyone who has heard the story of the Romeike family, it is an infuriating one indeed. To recap, the Romeike family came to the United States from Germany in 2008 to seek asylum because they want to homeschool their children, and homeschooling is a crime in Germany. In 2010, they were granted asylum. However, the Obama regime objected on the grounds that homeschooling is not a human right and thought that the government should be able to jail people who want to take their kids out of government schools. Got that, folks? As a parent, being able to decide how your children are educated is not a human right. From the same people who confer the right to jam scissors into the brain of a child and then throw said child in the trash, if you choose not to invite such a fate unto your child, you don’t get to decide on alternatives to government school for them. This case shows not only the Left’s dedication to harassing...

On Liberal Christians

On Liberal Christians

Is there such a thing as a “liberal Christian?” A question like that may sound like a joke, but it is quite serious, with profound implications for millions of professed Christians. Is it possible to be both Christian and a liberal/progressive? Let’s talk a bit about basic theology. Jesus came to Earth for one reason only: to give us a way out of eternal condemnation. God knew that the way He had his people atone for their sins, through endless animal sacrifice, would never cut it in the end. People sinned too much and had finite resources and patience for the sacrifices. So Jesus, through his sacrifice, created a permanent way through which man could be saved. Not only that, but the route to salvation was simpler, through faith alone (though no easier for it). Without that ultimate sacrifice, the Christian faith has no meaning and no foundation. This is why devout Christians are always talking about the Bible and faith in Christ. It is why they constantly exhort...

Margaret Sanger’s Dream Come True: Eugenics by Abortion

Margaret Sanger’s Dream Come True: Eugenics by Abortion

By Tami Jackson   Margaret Sanger might not be a familiar household name…but it should be.   Sanger was a nurse and a birth control advocate in the early 20th century. But more importantly, she formed the organization, American Birth Control League, which would eventually become Planned Parenthood. And like the modern day organization, cloaking its true agenda in palatable verbiage such as “family planning” and “choice,” Margaret’s goal was far more evil than the respectable facade she presented. Sanger waged a crusade for legal and safe contraceptives, and for legal and safe abortions. The Left and Planned Parenthood would have you believe she was a paragon, an angel of mercy for women in desperate need. PBS writes: Margaret Sanger devoted her life to legalizing birth control and making it universally available for women…Her fervent ambition was to find the perfect contraceptive to relieve women from the horrible strain of repeated, unwanted pregnancies. …she found work in New York City as a visiting nurse on the Lower East Side. It was there that...

The Truth About Millennials Leaving the Church

The Truth About Millennials Leaving the Church

This past week, I’ve come across two articles on the topic of why Millennials are leaving the church.   This is a topic that seems to be en vogue in the faith community these days – why people between the ages of 18 and 30 are leaving the evangelical church. On one hand, it’s important to make sure that people in this age group do not abandon faith because it is here where we find the next generation of church leaders. On the other hand, though, some of the commentary on the subject feeds into narcissism and self-importance of a generation raised on self-esteem. For example, Rachel Held Evans wrote for CNN: “…I explain how young adults perceive evangelical Christianity to be too political, too exclusive, old-fashioned, unconcerned with social justice and hostile to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.” By “hostile to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people” it is commonly meant that the church needs to bend on the Biblical definition of marriage. This is a generation...

Shame is Good

Shame is Good

“Have you no shame?” These were the words addressed to Sen Joe McCarthy during his infamous anti-communist Senate hearings.   Subsequently, regardless of the merits of his allegations, Sen McCarthy was driven out of the public square and his concerns about communist infiltration of our government were dropped from the public consciousness. For all of human history, shame has been one of the most powerful emotions for driving normative behaviors. Shame has been used by Presidents, Priests and Parents to control soldiers, children and mobs. Authors as diverse as Shakespeare, Hugo, and Dostoyevsky have used shame as the central motivation of some of their most memorable characters. In fact, it is often the protagonist’s response to shame that drives them to do humane and monumental things. To paraphrase Gordon Gecko, “shame, for the lack of a better word…is good.” But in our baby boomer wisdom, we have decided that shame is something that one should never, ever have to feel.   This is accomplished by making sure everyone gets...

Justice Kennedy’s “Proclamation”

Justice Kennedy’s “Proclamation”

In what will be remembered as one of the most dishonest rulings handed down, the Supreme Court ruled that the federal government has to recognize same-sex unions as marriage in states where they have done so. They also punted on California’s Proposition 8 on standing issues, refusing to rule on the merits of the case. In these two decisions, they have paved the way for people to pretend that same-sex unions are marriage. In the case rejecting Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion and it reads like a press release for gay advocacy group rather than a Supreme Court opinion. This fact was not lost on Justice Antonin Scalia, who torched Kennedy’s “logic” in his dissent. Nor was it lost on radio hosts Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, both of who took time during their broadcasts to read from Scalia’s dissent on Wednesday when it was handed down. Justice Kennedy, in his majority opinion for the Court, essentially said that...
