Walk for Life San Diego

Walk for Life San Diego

Anna Maria Hoffman (follow her @AM_Hoffman) discusses her experience at the Walk for Life in San Diego & the importance of standing up for human life.   It’s important for all of us to stand for the sanctity of life, but especially when talking to young people. Young people need to be aware of the significance of this issue. This generation has to have it imparted to them why we stand for life, because it affects every other aspect of the culture....

Self-Worth and the Hookup Culture

Self-Worth and the Hookup Culture

Part of restoring our society and our Republic will have to come through a conservative takeover in the culture.   We will have to engage the culture and leave our imprint. It’s not enough to complain about the rot that we see around us; we have to be willing to take it on, make our case, and especially with young people, engage in the conversation. That brings me to Counter Cultured. It describes itself as “a blog about social, political and cultural issues from the perspectives of young conservatives.” This is conservatism taking its place in American culture. And the latest feature on their site comes from one of their contributors, Anna Maria Hoffman (follow her @AM_Hoffman), whose VLog “Self-Worth and the Hookup Culture” lays waste to the idea of “hooking” up and how it affects women who engage in the practice. Anna Maria and the contributors at Counter Cultured understand what Andrew Breitbart always said “Politics is downstream from culture.” Watch...

 Left of Heaven

Left of Heaven

By Tarzana Joe   ♱♱♱ I like to think of heaven as a place that I have known A street of many mansions I might one day call my own A field of gentle breezes where it stays forever spring Where light is always shining and we all know how to sing I know this view of heaven is by intellects, reviled And my approach to heaven is the heaven of a child But struggle as they might with all the wit at their command They’ll tell you less of heaven than a simple grain of sand We all have tasted heaven and that ultimate reward When what we do on earth obtains the pleasure of the Lord A simple act of courage or of kindness is a start A gift that we give freely and directly from the heart So come with me my little ones; it’s been a dreadful day I know a field for dreaming and a place where you can play A place that we...

Tribute to Frank Pastore

Tribute to Frank Pastore

(tribute by, and posted with permission from Duane Patterson)   Frank Pastore, the former major league baseball pitcher who became a popular Christian radio show host, has died. Southern California radio station KKLA said that Pastore died Monday, nearly a month after he was critically injured in a motorcycle accident. He was 55. The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reports Pastore had been in a coma since a car collided with his motorcycle on Nov. 19 on Interstate 210 in Duarte. He was on his way home from work at KKLA at the time of the accident. Pastore was a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds from 1979 until 1985 and for the Minnesota Twins in 1986. He’s survived by a wife, Gina, son, Frank Jr. and daughter, Christina.       We mourn the loss of a good man, we pray for his loving family left behind, and we celebrate a life well-lived with eternal perspective!   Well done good and faithful servant!     “He will wipe every tear from...

America Works – Just Not Perfectly!

America Works – Just Not Perfectly!

(Picture James Bo-Insogna Striking Photography)   America works!   Too many of us are told that some “ism” disproves all this nation represents. This leads to millions of resentful folks who can be marched to a socialist tune in a heart beat. Socialists LOVE discontent.   It’s where they plant their seeds against traditional values and the free market. Notice they NEVER show up as much when times are good? My grandfather encountered the Depression Era variety as a student at a historically Black college. They used Jim Crow as a recruitment attempt and plied young Black scholars with integrated parties and subversion. He didn’t bite the poison apple then and neither did I a generation later. Socialists view American Blacks as a potential fifth column awaiting activation. Saying America works is made infinitely harder in the deep shadow of this Great Recession. Long term unemployment, foreclosure, and rising asset loss beats millions into submission. The specter of Obamacare detonates “lay off bombs ” nation-wide as Christmas and 2013 beckon. Heads...
