L.A. Times still fighting the gun control fight.

L.A. Times still fighting the gun control fight.

In a post on the L.A. Times website, Thomas Curwen attempts to make a correlation between “gun-violence” and “gun-control” as if they are in any way related.  Thomas recounts a late-night shooting over the weekend of two boys near Torrance, California.  Based on the information available so far, the boy highlighted in the article was simply minding his own business with a friend when both were shot with a .45 caliber handgun.  The linked article recounts the heroic efforts of the trauma surgeon to save the boy’s life. Curwen goes on to quote various trauma doctors who are all in agreement that “gun violence” should automatically translate into increased “gun control”.  Nothing could be further from the truth. “Gun violence” is absolutely necessary and useful in a civil society.  To somehow equate the “gun violence” that put two bullets in Osama Bin Laden’s skull to two boys being gunned down on the streets of southern California is ludicrous.  But this is a typical tactic used by those who live with...

Happy Day! Tax Returns!

Happy Day! Tax Returns!

Mitt Romney released his 2011 tax returns this week. I have never been more excided. I can count about 2,768 more things out there more interesting than his tax return. But people are interested in it, so let it be news. I had a conversation with someone the other day via the comment section on FaceBook. A mutual friend posted a new meme about Romney’s 47% speech/gaffe/who/cares. The picture was one of Romney (at his most unflattering) and it stated: “Complains about the 47% not paying income taxes. Makes $20 million a year and doesn’t pay income taxes.” Hilarious, I know. Once you have stopped laughing, please continue reading. He (the person I had the conversation with) said that it was Romney’s duty to contribute to the betterment of society. By “contribute” he meant paying more in taxes than us (the non-millionaires). And by “betterment of society” he meant trusting the government to make it better. I don’t care about the politics behind this issue. But the bull...

My Fellow Jewish Americans, is This Your Grandparents Democrat Party?

My Fellow Jewish Americans, is This Your Grandparents Democrat Party?

Hat Tip:  From the American Israeli author, blogger, defender of women’s rights, and Israeli patriot, Naomi Ragen, on information  obtained from her newsletter.  Please visit Naomi’s web site here. While I learned of this from Naomi Ragen and her newsletter, the following words in this post are my words and beliefs. Naomi has expressed in a much more eloquent way her opinions on the situation in her article. Please read her article on this issue: Voting For America We’ve heard the sanctimonious admonitions in the past from the one time venerable Anti Defamation League that Jews (i.e., Republican Jews) should not make the issue of the state of Israel a wedge issue.   I have just come back from an awesome Canadian cruise (and being out of touch of last week’s political scene) to receive a newsletter from the wonderful Israeli author Naomi Reagan.  In her newsletter I came to learn that it is the Democrats who have fostered a wedge on Israel as big as the Carnival...

Dear Mr. President

Dear Mr. President

I listened to your speech last night.  I’ll admit before anything else, that I didn’t watch all of it.  I saw the final 20 minutes.  I’m sorry about that; I just really needed to make a Costco trip. Of the section I did hear, I wanted to mention a part that I really liked and, I will admit, even caused me to get goose bumps. When you spoke about families finally having the privilege to say to their loved ones serving in our military “Welcome home”, I agreed wholeheartedly.  That, Mr. President, is a mission we can all agree on. Now, when you were speaking about taxing the rich and providing health care and college opportunities to those who would not normally be able to have them, I understood the notion.  It is nothing new to view the world through a lens of “fairness”.  After all, the millionaires do have some money to spare, why not use it for good?  They don’t need to be so selfish with it....

The Face of Racism

The Face of Racism

In this election, we on the right have to come to grips with the fact that we are dealing with a bunch of weasels. The left has no honor, no shame, and no dignity. They throw around the word “racist” to describe us not only without evidence, but at the same time they themselves engage in actual racist practices. Chris Matthews, earlier this week, was frothing at the mouth because Newt Gingrich called Obama the “food stamp president”. On one hand, progressives and leftists love telling us that more white people collect food stamps than black people. But somehow, they argue, it’s racist against black people for mentioning food stamps. But, good old Newt wasn’t having it. He turned it all back on Chris in that way that only Newt can. He asked, “What kind of racist thinking do you have?” We need to start turning their racism back on them. Let the American people see the left for what they are, a bunch of racists who can’t win...
