I am one of those conservatives who view a parallel between the incompetent, failed Jimmy Carter presidency with the current president. Some call Barack Obama incompetent and in over his head, like Jimmy Carter, and I have said as much, but after viewing the great documentary movie 2016, I now think it may be more than just incompetence.  I want everyone reading this post to go see the movie, so I will not give any more details regarding that.

Most of the comparison between the Carter and Obama administrations is because of the dreadful economic conditions and high gas prices. But I submit similarities are much deeper than that.  I think there is an uncanny parallel between those two men on policies and actions they have taken to make the Middle East an even more dangerous area than it has been; especially in Iran [because of Carter’s actions] and Egypt [because of Obama’s actions].

This from May 13, 2002 publication of  News Max on Carter and Iran:

“Remember Carter’s human rights program, where he demanded the Shah of Iran step down and turn over power to the Ayatollah Khomeini?

No matter that Khomeini was a madman. Carter had the U.S. Pentagon tell the Shah’s top military commanders – about 150 of them – to acquiesce to the Ayatollah and not fight him.

The Shah’s military listened to Carter. All of them were murdered in one of the Ayatollah’s first acts.

By allowing the Shah to fall, Carter created one of the most militant anti-American dictatorships ever.”

So, the Muslim extremists in Iran had the president of the United States, Jimmy Carter, on their side.

Now we have this report just in  from The Jerusalem Post [on Egypt]

“While the world persists in looking for signs of pragmatism in the Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsy is quietly taking over all the power bases in the country.

Having gotten rid of the army old guard, he replaced them with his own men – officers belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood or known sympathizers. Then he turned his attention to the media, replacing 50 editors working for the government’s extensive and influential press empire – including Al- Ahram, Al-Akhbar, Al-Gomhuria. He is now busy appointing new governors to the 27 regions of the country”….”whatever happens Friday will not deter them from their goal – a thoroughly Islamist Egypt.”

So, just as Jimmy Carter aided in the removal of the Shah of Iran, which ushered in the Islamist Republic of Iran under the Ayatollah Khomeini, Barack Obama has supported the removal of Hosnei Mubarak welcoming in the reign of Mohammed Morsi and what seems like a certain Islamic Republic of Egypt. You might say president Obama didn’t aid in this emerging Islamist Egypt, but do you forget what first inspired these Muslims that they could rise up and challenge the somewhat friendly to America and Israel regime of Mubbarak? On June 4,2009 president Obama , in Cairo, Egypt gave his infamous speech to the Muslim world telling the Muslim’s how great they were and how they were imbedded in the American fabric.  But that’s not the worst of it.  Do you realize that president Obama demanded that members of the Muslim Brotherhood be allowed to attend his speech.  Can you get any more inspiration than that?

The Muslim extremists in Egypt had the president of the United States, Barack Obama, on their side.

Contrast the actions of Jimmy Carter toward Iran and Barack Obama toward Egypt, with president Ronald Reagan who inspired the people of the freedom movement in Poland and other countries that were under the brutal tyrannical evil Soviet empire. Ronald Reagan did this through his words and deeds. The heroic, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Lech Walesa, who would become president of a free Poland, said that when he was imprisoned by the communists, he read where President Reagan lit candles in the White House in support of Walesa and the democratic freedom fighters. Walesa, said that it brought him to tears and inspired him like nothing else and made sure that freeing Poland from being under the communist tyranny would happen.  So, Lech Walesa had the president of the United States, Ronald Reagan, on his side.

Not that Israel wasn’t already concerned about their surrounding enemies, but I am pretty sure there is no love lost among Israelis for the two American presidencies of Carter and Obama, who have aided in the genesis of two radical Islamic Republics surrounding them.

So, can’t we indeed see a direct and frightening parallel between  president’s Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama.  Both have led to disastrous economic conditions in the United States, both through anti energy policies [because of extremist environmental views] have led to almost unbearable gas prices for a sustained period of time, and both have thrown out pro American leaders in the Middle East, welcoming in radical Islamists.

Now some might bring up the point of Carter’s failed attempt to free the hostages held by the Isamists in Iran, and contrast that to Obama’s successful call in approving the mission of our heroic Navy SEALs  killing Bin Ladin.  Those people would say, ‘see Obama took a chance that he could have failed also, and his “gutsy” call in light of Carter’s failed attempt should lead to his reelection’.  But the wrong idea is being posed. It is not that Obama made a call in light of the unsuccessful Carter rescue attempt–the real question should be “what if Carter’s attempt was successful”.  I talk about this in this satirical post: What if President Carter’s Gutsy Gambit Had Worked  The main point of this post was to ask the rhetorical question: With all of the problems in the economy and Carter aiding in the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran, would we really have reelected president Carter because of one “gutsy”call?  Which leads to the more important question. Will we now?
