America: A Secret Santa Nation!

Americans are what I call a “secret Santa nation”. We give and often anonymously.     The same hard nosed conservative preaching austerity also quietly feeds the homeless or pays distressed home owners utility bills.       President Ronald Reagan would secretly send people money who wrote the White House about their challenges. Typical of the Greatest Generation, he reached into his wallet instead of tax payers pockets to help others.       Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, gave decades and millions assisting others as part of his faith.       My...

Fisking Facebook – Newtown, preschoolers, rocks, and bad policy

No intro needed … we’ll just let the stupidity speak for itself:   {sigh}   To these types, I’ll bet that the preferred solution is to gather the non-rock-throwing preschoolers in a circle in the middle of the playground, and let the rock-throwers have an easier time of it.   I propose a better alternative.   Let’s set up an experiment involving two playgrounds: one where there are plenty of rocks and all the kids play baseball, and one where the rocks have been carefully removed and only constructive conflict resolution is taught. Left of Heaven

By Tarzana Joe   ♱♱♱ I like to think of heaven as a place that I have known A street of many mansions I might one day call my own A field of gentle breezes where it stays forever spring Where light is always shining and we all know how to sing I know this view of heaven is by intellects, reviled And my approach to heaven is the heaven of a child But struggle as they might with all the wit at their command They’ll tell you less of heaven than a simple grain of sand We all...

The Evil AR-15

The news of the Newtown massacre has shaken all Americans.   As details begin to emerge about that day, a perfect storm of mental illness, irresponsible gun storage, and indifference by local authorities is beginning to form.  It will take some time to discern which factors contributed the most.  But predictably, some have already drawn their own conclusions based on deeply held beliefs. A lot of dust has been kicked up concerning possible new gun control laws. Much of this has focused on rifles based on the AR-15 platform.  Many people do not understand why people want to own...

My Response to Adolph Reed

Today, I was appalled, but sadly not surprised to read an op-ed in the New York Times from Adolph L. Reed Jr., a professor of political science at the University of Pennsylvania. Its title “The Puzzle of Black Republican” is the typical liberal response to black conservatives; dripping with racism, contempt, and lies. He spouts the usual leftist tripe of referring to Clarence Thomas as “an archconservative” and claims there is “thinly veiled racism” in the Tea Party. I penned a response to Professor Reed and you can read it below: Professor Reed, I am writing this email in response to...
