CLA Radio 05/30/14: Repeat of CLA Radio #27 from October 2012

The upcoming ConservativeLA Radio show (on Duane FM in the Hughniverse, Friday, 5/30/14, 7:00 Pacific/10:00 Eastern) will be a repeat of the Empty Chair edition originally broadcast in October 2012. Gary Eaton of The Army You Have, who will be busy performing live the night this show is rebroadcast, provides the introduction to an otherwise narrator-less show. The show was predicated on the belief that Barack Obama would be a one-termer. OK, so that didn’t work out. Hopefully the show will be entertaining in spite of subsequent events. Spoiler set list: Mystery Guest: Program Intro John Lennon: Imagine Sound Clip: The Planet Began To Heal Living Colour: Cult Of Personality Sound Clip: Pay...

The Narcissistic Society: It’s All About Me

Last weekend, two events illustrated the gulf between where America has been, and where it is heading.   The contrast between solemn Memorial Day celebrations and the bloody outrage of Elliot Rodger’s murders clearly show the line between those who live for others and those who are all about themselves. Enter Jamelle Bouie of Slate magazine (don’t ask why I was reading Slate) with a piece entitled “Why Do Millennials Not Understand Racism?” I was prepared for complete drivel and intellectual laziness and Mr. Bouie did not disappoint. Let’s start with Bouie’s...

Corporal Storck Remembers Pearl Harbor

Maurice A. Storck endured and survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7th, 1941.   Maurice is not just a survivor – he’s a thriver who, amazingly, still serves his country today. Recently, while preparing to attend the dedication of the new World War II Memorial in Phoenix, I had the honor and pleasure of interviewing Mr. Storck. I thought I was going to write up a post for Pearl Harbor Day, a great opportunity to tell a few stories about the heroism of my parents’ generation: how they faced down fascism from all sides, how they prevailed to...
