Trump Makes A Deal, On Abortion

It’s election season, and during election season discussions frequently pop up in the media about party rules, party platforms, and hot-button issues. One of the party platforms that has remained unchanged on Republican side for decades is the issue of life and abortion. Republicans have historically been solidly opposed to abortion in all cases. They believe that a baby in the womb is deserving of an equal share of the rights and protections of the mother carrying it, because it is a human life. The pro-life movement believes it occupies the moral high-ground because they are protecting the...

How to use your own e-mail account and fool (most) everybody into thinking you are complying with company/government policy

As a person who managed e-mail servers on multiple platforms for more than 15 years, I have become accustomed to hearing from end-users that they don’t like the systems I have provided.   Some people just grumble. Others actively look for ways to avoid using it. Usually it involves the end-user putting their own convenience over conformity. So when the revelations about Hillary Clinton rolling her own mail server and domain surfaced, I was not surprised at all. The only thing that surprised me is the lengths she went to hide her system from oversight. In the corporate world,...

Review: Laserlyte Trigger Tyme pistol and Laser Trainer

If you are like a lot of suburban or urban gun-owners, you know that getting to the range for practice can be a chore.  Your busy life sometimes makes it difficult. And until recently, ammunition prices have discouraged you even further.  But you know you need to practice basic firearm fundamentals like muzzle discipline, grip, presentation, sight-alignment, trigger-squeeze, and training your dominant eye. Fortunately, you can do that in the comfort of your own home without frightening your neighbors with the sounds of gunfire and the sight of muzzle flashes. Enter the LaserLyte Trigger Tyme Training Pistol (TTTP). LaserLyte makes a full line of training aids for many different firearms.  But let’s start with something really basic.  The TTTP costs a measly $40. It’s about the size of a Glock 19 or similar striker-fired pistol.  If you have smaller hands or prefer training with a compact pistol, LaserLyte makes a compact model as well. The beauty of this training pistol is that, unlike other “blue gun” training aids, this trainer has an actual trigger you can squeeze and basic sights similar to those found on modern striker-fired pistols. Because it’s a trainer, you don’t have to lock it up in a safe. You can leave it lying around the house without worrying about a child or other unwanted person finding it. Mine just sits next to the pile of...

Peruta v. San Diego: How did we get here?

Today’s decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in the Peruta v. San Diego case may become a watershed moment for concealed carry advocates in the Golden State.   Progressive politicians here are now scrambling to select the correct course of action that will allow them to preserve what has been one of the most anti-gun bureaucracies in the country. But the truth is, the predicament they have found themselves in is entirely of their own making. God bless our idiot state legislators in California who, in their infinite wisdom, decided to outlaw unloaded open-carry of firearms because...

SHOTshow Report: Day 1

This is my fourth SHOTshow and for the first time I attended “range day.”     I mean, what’s the point of attending the worlds largest shooting, outdoor, and hunting trade show if you can’t fire some weapons? Actually, I had the opportunity to go to the range last year.  But it was 36 degrees outside with about a 25 mph wind all day so nobody wanted to be out there. This year the weather was very agreeable: it was sunny and in the mid 60’s all day. For those who are not familiar, SHOTshow is the biggest firearms-related...
