An Obama Declaration of Dependence

When in the course of humanist events it becomes desirable for most people to eschew the personal bonds which have connected them with each other, and to assume that the powers of the earth owe them a separate and equal portion to which the laws of nature …entitle them, a disdainful disregard toward the experience of mankind requires that we should demagogue the rationalizations which impel us to this decimation. We declare these talking-points to be politically correct – that some groups should be considered more equal than others; that they should be endowed by their government...

No Right To Infringe

If federal background checks on firearms purchases are constitutional, then why are not background checks on ammunition?   Paraphrasing, this was the question asked by Hugh Hewitt on his radio show of January 8, 2013. A GOP Intervention

OK GOP. I’m sorry we have to meet under these circumstances, but it’s important.   I know you’ve been through a lot lately. You lost that tough election for President. You think people just don’t understand you. And you’re right … I don’t know how anyone could really understand exactly how you feel. I know you’re tired and depressed. They tell you what you’re supposed to...

Fears Of Our Fathers

Our nation’s Founding Fathers were great men – men of science, religion and morality. They debated not to dictate, but to persuade. They fought not to conquer, but in defense of Liberty.  They formed a new government not to impose their will upon others, but to peaceably coexist with them. They were men of great faith. They had faith in mankind; faith in self-governance. They had great faith in God that their struggle would ultimately bring freedom to the land. Their faith lay against a backdrop of great fear. They had personal fear for the safety of their...

Gun Control Means Using Both Hands

According to conventional wisdom, kids will have sex regardless of their parents’ wishes, so we should provide them with access to birth control, condoms and instruction manuals, all now considered a human right at the U.N.  This makes sex safer for children.   Similarly, many of our children will possess guns, regardless. Others grow up to become gun owners.  Certainly the improper use of firearms is even more dangerous than the improper use of a condom!  Responsible gun ownership is both a right and a responsibility of citizenship. The way forward is clear – we must use our schools to train...
