Rob Astorino for Governor

As in many other states, there is a governor’s race in New York.   Our choices are Democrat incumbent Andrew Cuomo and Republican challenger Rob Astorino, who is the Westchester County Executive. Why am I even bothering with this since we all know that Cuomo’s reelection is a fait accompli and the election is merely a formality? There are a few reasons (aside from the obvious that I believe Astorino would make a better governor). Reason #1: Governor Cuomo’s January 2014 radical statement of disdain for and exclusion of conservatives: “Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem...

Book Review: “Assault and Flattery”

In the modern era, the Democrat Party and the American Left have claimed to be the champions of “women’s rights.” We are told that the Republican Party and the American Right are misogynists who are actively engaged in a “war on women.” We are constantly hearing the Left engaging in histrionics to convince women that Republicans hate women. Mr. Hewitt Is All Wet on the Border Crisis

Yesterday, nationally-syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt wrote a piece “Make the Border Kids Americans,” for Politico.   Hewitt outlined a solution to the massive Obama-manufactured humanitarian crisis at what used to be our southern border. The title “Make the Border Kids Americans” in and of itself should be cringe-inducing. Yes, folks, it’s exactly what you feared: amnesty. From paragraph three: Right now the country ought to act to end the humanitarian crisis of tens of thousands of what are, in effect, orphans and strangers in our land. The very young among them should find “forever families” right here, right now. They...

Yes, Astorino Can Win New York for the GOP

By Peter Roff Most of the pundits who follow national politics have already made up their minds about what’s going on in New York.   They see the possibility of a GOP pickup of two or even three seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, especially if President Barack Obama’s job approval number is, as it appears to be, headed south of 40 percent. Aside from that, however, they expect bad news for the GOP. New York’s Republican Party has yet to recover from the thumping it received eight years ago at the hands of the now-disgraced Elliot Spitzer,...
