Trump Makes A Deal, On Abortion

Posted by on Apr 26, 2016 in Featured, Politics | 0 comments

It’s election season, and during election season discussions frequently pop up in the media about party rules, party platforms, and hot-button issues. One of the party platforms that has remained unchanged on Republican side for decades is the issue of life and abortion. Republicans have historically been solidly opposed to abortion in all cases. They believe that a baby in the womb is deserving of an equal share of the rights and protections of the mother carrying it, because it is a human life. The pro-life movement believes it occupies the moral high-ground because they are protecting the most vulnerable people in our society. Democrats have historically opposed...

Duane’s Journey: Some Encouragement for the Next Adventure

Posted by on Jul 30, 2015 in Faith, For Tribbles | 2 comments

Duane Patterson is known to the nation as @Radioblogger or Generalissimo, Hugh Hewitt’s able and much-maligned producer. But to a bunch of friends across the nation called The Tribbles, Duane’s a friend and great guy. Duane informed us on his 7/27 Aftershow that the cancer, first diagnosed in 2012, and twice beaten, was back. To be precise, the Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma was back. Here is the full explanation: After the news had soaked in, the only appropriate response was a recording of encouragement, humor and well-wishes from a gaggle of Duane’s friends, many of whom are Tribbles. Our thoughts and prayers are with Duane as he fights this...

CLA Radio 05/15/15: Gram Parsons

Posted by on May 16, 2015 in Conservative LA Radio, For Tribbles, Radio | 0 comments

The next ConservativeLA Radio show (on Duane FM in the Hughniverse, Friday night, 05/15/15, 7:00 Pacific/10:00 Eastern) will focus on the musical world of Gram Parsons. Call it Cosmic American Music–everybody else does. The show will include Gram’s own material as he performed it; songs he covered, as performed by the original (or other) artists; songs that he wrote, as performed by others; and perhaps some other combination that escapes my memory–in short, the musical universe he inhabited. If you don’t know much about Gram Parsons, this won’t be much of a biographical introduction, although there will be a bit of bio. Mostly the show just tosses you into...

The next ConservativeLA Radio show (on Duane FM in the Hughniverse, Friday night, 05/08/15, 7:00 Pacific/10:00 Eastern) will focus on the music of B.B. King (who is apparently very ill), as well as excerpts from a great 2014 documentary called B.B. King: Life Of Riley, and music from a few of his primary musical influences. Hope you can stop by and listen, and join us in chat! Here’s the Spotify playlist. (I’m also on Twitter.) Set list (all songs are B.B. King unless otherwise noted): Life Of Riley documentary (2014), clip 1 When Love Comes To Town (with U2) Miss Martha King Got The Blues Life Of Riley documentary...

Hope you can stop by and listen, and join us in chat! Here’s the Spotify playlist. (I’m also on Twitter.) Set list: Parenthetical information indicates peak chart date and position.
