Mr. Hewitt Is All Wet on the Border Crisis

Mr. Hewitt Is All Wet on the Border Crisis

Yesterday, nationally-syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt wrote a piece “Make the Border Kids Americans,” for Politico.   Hewitt outlined a solution to the massive Obama-manufactured humanitarian crisis at what used to be our southern border. The title “Make the Border Kids Americans” in and of itself should be cringe-inducing. Yes, folks, it’s exactly what you feared: amnesty. From paragraph three: Right now the country ought to act to end the humanitarian crisis of tens of thousands of what are, in effect, orphans and strangers in our land. The very young among them should find “forever families” right here, right now. They should become Americans. In short, you win, Mr. President. You flooded the border with all of these children in order to get the GOP to surrender to your lawlessness, make them all citizens, and then here comes chain migration to bring all of their families (and anyone else who wants to claim to be related to them) to become citizens, too. This would be nothing short of acquiescing to a...

Hugh Hewitt Takes Paul Ryan to the Woodshed

Hugh Hewitt Takes Paul Ryan to the Woodshed

On the Tuesday edition of the Hugh Hewitt Radio Show, Hugh Hewitt was on a tear against Congressional Republicans for singling out active military, and those who retire after 20 or more years, for retirement cuts in the budget deal passed last month. In the first hour, he spent two segments with Budget Committee Chair Paul Ryan (R-WI), where he rejected out of hand all of Ryan’s arguments. Ryan tried to argue that they are forced to do this because “elections have consequences.” He didn’t seem to be bothered by the outrage this will spread among the base of the Republican Party, many of whom were already outraged about this last month. There are many outrages about both this deal AND Ryan’s reaction to Hewitt’s questioning. First of all, we were told in December that we had to agree to this deal because it took the threat of another government shutdown off the table. We had to make sure that 2014 was entirely about Obamacare and not the distraction...

Memorial Day 2013

Memorial Day 2013

By Tarzana Joe    ❧❧❧❧ Let’s hear it for the soldiers The sons and daughters who Are founders and protectors Of everything we do   They knew about the dangers Though some might think this weird Despite the threats to life and limb They bravely volunteered   They come from every background From humble house or suite But due to that decision I say they’re all elite   They fight against oppression Relieve the set upon They knew the G in G.I. Joe Didn’t stand for Genghis Khan   They rescue the beleaguered They liberate the town And no one better never ever Tell them to stand down   Let’s let them know they’re honored And that their nation cares Let’s hold them in our memories And keep them in our prayers   Next time you see a soldier There’s no need to be nervous Walk right up, stick out your hand And thank them for their service   And where a battle rages And when the bugle calls...

That Sinking Feeling

That Sinking Feeling

By Tarzana Joe    ❧❧❧❧ The greatest fear we face each day Is dealing with “not knowing” Which one of us would board a bus Unsure of where it’s going? For fortune’s cord is never straight It coils, twists and bends And so it’s up to poets To identify the trends When I announce the path I see You might think I’ve been drinking But I conclude our next ordeal Is clearly global sinking A bedroom floor’s an open door A fairway filled with clover A sidewalk near the Senate Sees the sinkholes taking over And oh! The implications! And they really are profound You have no leg to stand on And can’t even trust the ground They drop you to the poorhouse And send your wealth to debtland When someone from the EPA Declares the hole a wetland The soil is getting softer The crust is clearly cracking And sure as shoot some institute Will blame it all on fracking For me that explanation seems A little hard...

 Washington Truth or Consequences

Washington Truth or Consequences

By Tarzana Joe    ❧❧❧❧ In times like these Before you sneeze The media goes looking For gals and guys Cuts victimize And that’s who Maddow’s booking   Like average Joes I’ve watched these shows Those broadcast and those buffered Awaiting scads Of Moms and Dads Who, all this week, have suffered   The long parades Of teachers’ aides Afraid of being furloughed The countryscapes Or rotting grapes That never will be Merlot-ed   The crises feared Have not appeared I guess we must have licked ‘em Except for prides Of White House Guides Am I the only victim?   My lips are blue My tongue is too My sinuses congested And hungry bugs  Attacked my rugs My base boards are infested   They’ve slowed the courts They’ve starched my shorts There’s no gas for my mower And chances are I won’t fly far My sinkhole’s sinking lower   I like my fork In roasted pork If budget cuts get bigger They’ll be no swine I’ll have to dine...
