Let’s Get Something Straight

Let’s Get Something Straight

There’s something wrong with homosexuality. Can we agree on that?   Men and women are not designed to be that way. I’ve tried it with plumbing parts – it never works. Only male and female parts fit together right without an adapter, and I’m not going there with this. Yes, homosexuality is aberrant: deviant, divergent, abnormal, atypical, anomalous, or irregular. Why do I make this insensitive observation?  It’s not to be mean, I assure you. I just want to remind the self-righteous, indignant GLAADiators among us that the rest of us have a legitimate point of concern about their lifestyle. They’re right to be defensive – but not offensive. And offensive they were – going after Phil Robertson that way! He’s such a genuinely kind, generous person. It takes a special kind of person to disparage someone like that. They could only claim that he’s “outside the mainstream,” which to them means that since they won a popularity contest, the science is settled.  All they can do is incite...

Nelson Mandela’s True Legacy: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Nelson Mandela’s True Legacy: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

In the days following the death of former South African President Nelson Mandela, there has been a rush by the American Left to rewrite his legacy.   As @ConservativeLA noted at the outset, “My only further comment on the topic will be that the chatter has degenerated into hagiography awfully damned quickly.” As dictionary.com defines it, hagiography means “any biography that idealizes or idolizes its subject.” Or as I put it, the deification is on. The biggest part of the whitewash of Mandela’s legacy is the conspicuous absence of any references to Mandela’s communism. He was a member in high standing in the African National Congress, which is the communist party of South Africa. Mandela thought highly of some of the world’s most brutal dictators, Muammar Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein, and Fidel Castro, to name a few. Mandela advocated violent means to achieve his ends. He had no words of criticism for his wife necklacing innocent people until he saw it as a threat to his political power. He was...

CLA Radio 12/13/13: 2013 Passings

CLA Radio 12/13/13: 2013 Passings

The next ConservativeLA Radio show (on Duane FM in the Hughniverse, Friday, 12/13, 7:00 Pacific/10:00 Eastern) will pay tribute to musicians who have exited the proverbial mortal coil in 2013. Re the set list below, some of the folks in question were sidemen; they are listed parenthetically where applicable. The list is not meant to be exhaustive, so some who passed on this year may not be included in the show, but I squeezed in as many as I could–and no doubt a few folks you’ve never heard of. One show note: Careful listeners will notice a logical flaw somewhere in the show. The first person to guess correctly (in chat) the specific flaw I have in mind will win something cool (TBA)! Hope you can stop by and listen, and join us in chat! Spoiler set list: Audio Mash-up: Lies (JJ Cale) Ten Years After: Woodchoppers Ball (Alvin Lee) George Jones: Don’t Stop The Music Johnny Smith: Walk, Don’t Run! Cowboy Jack Clement: S-E-R-I-O-U-S-L-Y Prince Jazzbo: It Dread...
