The Techno-Government Complex

The Techno-Government Complex

In 1961, Dwight D. Eisenhower famously made a point of warning us about the military-industrial complex.   Now, in 2013, we have a similar nexus, born of the Digital Age and nurtured by the World-Wide Web. The Web itself stems from a nexus of government defense (DARPA – Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) and funded technology. Developing together, grown out of control, critical mass has been reached – a symbiosis of virtually unlimited funding for national security and virtually unlimited technological capability – the techo-government complex. The Complex’s partners have shared strategic goals for their own protection. Witness the conglomeration of Facebook, Microsoft and Google’s FWD.US (FORWARD dot U.S.) advancing the Obama Administration’s FORWARD agenda. FWD advocates publically, while the Administration advocates privately. Does anyone doubt these tech giants would do anything to protect those holding the purse-strings of their defense contracts? FWD and FORWARD – why don’t they just get married! They wouldn’t even need to change the initials on their towels! They also have a shared secret. Only they can...

R.I.P Vince Flynn (1966-2013)

R.I.P Vince Flynn (1966-2013)

Terribly sad news today about the passing of Vince Flynn at age 47. Hugh Hewitt has featured Vince’s books on his radio show, and they have a well-deserved place on the Necessary Bookshelf, Hugh’s list of recommended authors. I had read Memorial Day on an airplane long before I heard Vince on Hugh’s show, but had no idea about Vince’s body of work until after hearing Vince interviewed at length on the radio.  (It also didn’t hurt that the protagonist of Vince’s books, Mitch Rapp, was someone with whom I could relate … 8^) Here is Vince pictured with Brad Thor, another thriller author who Hugh has featured and introduced to his listeners. I’ve met Brad at a book signing, but never had the opportunity to meet Vince, and regretfully, that opportunity will now never come. “Everything is secure up here.” – Mitch Rapp, Act of Treason   Edit: Hugh’s tribute, with links to his interviews with Vince Flynn, is...

The Roots of the IRS Scandal

The Roots of the IRS Scandal

There can be no doubt that President Obama approves of the objectively criminal behavior of the IRS. Why wouldn’t he?   They are targeting (a term that former IRS head Steven Miller objects to) critics of Obama for harassment and extra scrutiny. What does Obama do every time he takes to a microphone? He targets his political opponents: he accuses them of being evil (without having to use the actual word, of course). He says that we want “dirtier air, dirtier water, and less people with health insurance.” His intent is to ensure that people think of his political opponents as disreputable scumbags who don’t deserve even the most basic respect. Barack Obama’s tactics go far beyond “the Chicago way.” This is straight out of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.” This is straight out of the Kremlin. Obama is not behaving like the leader of the free world, rather, he is behaving like a third-world despot, who uses the apparatchik of the federal government to heavy-handedly smite his political...
