A Thanksgiving Story: Don’t Fall Prey to Progressive Sin!

Posted by on Nov 28, 2014 in Art & Culture, Featured | 0 comments

“How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? He’d chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could if a woodchuck could chuck wood.” I know it’s an old tongue-twister, but there’s a lesson to be learned here – and it’s not a mind twister. Some people – e.g. LEFTISTS – will never be satisfied no matter how much you give them. They will always find a way to want, to need, to deserve more of what you have. They will always want you keep less and use less of whatever they deem you ought to sacrifice. Having stuff and using stuff is the original...

Politics at Thanksgiving? Are you mad?

Posted by on Nov 26, 2014 in Art & Culture | 0 comments

Today is Getaway Day for the Thanksgiving holiday and as I search the internet, I’m seeing a lot of articles on how to talk about politics at the Thanksgiving table.   As I think about all of the political arguments my family has engaged in when we assemble for Thanksgiving, the only response I have to these articles is, why? What idiot decided that we need to bog down an otherwise happy time with discussions about Obamacare, the Federal Reserve, the war in Iraq, and riots in Ferguson? What half-wit decided that a day dedicated to thanking Almighty God for all His abundant blessings should be interrupted by arguments...

Benghazi’s Fat Lady Hasn’t Yet Sung

Posted by on Nov 24, 2014 in Politics | 0 comments

Part of this past Friday’s document dump was the Investigative Report on the Terrorist Attacks on U.S. Facilities in Benghazi, Libya, September 11-12, 2012 from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, chaired (for now) by Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI).   Startlingly, in stark contrast to accounts from three security contractors (Kris “Tanto” Paronto, John “Tig” Tiegen, and Mark “Oz” Geist) who survived the attacks and rescued approximately 25 Americans, the report concludes that not only was the security perfectly adequate prior to the attacks, but that no one gave a stand-down order to the team champing at the bit to go rescue Ambassador Chris Stevens and Foreign Service...

CLA Radio 11/14/14: Old School Country (Why Contemporary Country Sucks)

Posted by on Nov 15, 2014 in Conservative LA Radio, For Tribbles, Radio | 0 comments

The next ConservativeLA Radio show (on Duane FM in the Hughniverse, Friday, 11/14/14, 7:00 Pacific/10:00 Eastern) will concern itself with real country, as opposed to the crap I saw on this week’s CMA Awards show (although Brad and Carrie were cute, and very entertaining). Seriously, they play “Gentle On My Mind” and don’t mention John Hartford?? As Larry Cordle put it: For the steel guitars no longer cry And the fiddles barely play But drums and rock ‘n’ roll guitars Are mixed up in your face Also, get off my lawn. Hope you can stop by and listen, and join us in chat! Or, if you like, you can...

The next ConservativeLA Radio show (on Duane FM in the Hughniverse, Friday, 11/07/14, 7:00 Pacific/10:00 Eastern) will concern itself with precipitation, and the lack thereof. Hope you can stop by and listen, and join us in chat! Or, if you like, you can listen on Spotify (.html or Spotify app), which is the same as the show proper–except for the intro and outro included in the Duane FM version of the show. Spoiler set list: Julie Roberts: Rain On A Tin Roof Tom Waits: Opening Intro (Nighthawks At The Diner) Tom Waits: Emotional Weather Report Dave Alvin: Dry River Willie Nelson: Blue Eyes in the Rain The Temptations: I...
