The next ConservativeLA Radio show (on Duane FM in the Hughniverse, Friday night, 01/09/15, 7:00 Pacific/10:00 Eastern) will concern itself with the Genius Of Soul, Ray Charles.
The show has two sources: Pure Genius: The Complete Atlantic Recordings 1952-1959, an incredible eight disc box set released in 2005; and the first episode from the 2005 BBC documentary series Soul Deep.
The show is not intended to be comprehensive, chronological, or any suchlike. If anything, it is intended to point out just how awesome the material (from my favorite era of Ray’s music, the Atlantic years) on Pure Genius is.
