Jay Parker: American Revolutionary

There are two types of revolutionary: those who tear down countries and those who build them up.   Jay Parker is the revolutionary who builds his country up. In the 1960s, he chose principled patriotism and organizations like Young Americans for Freedom while liberals profanely protested and joined less reputable groups. “Courage To Put Country Above Color” tells this epic story and how his behind-the-scenes presence closed what I call the, ” conservative gap ” between the Reagan Administration and like minded American Blacks, most notably his friend, future Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Mr. Parker tackled the...

Happy American History Month To Justice Clarence Thomas

I, through no power but my desire to unite Americans worth uniting, wish you a Happy American History Month.    You might have noticed February is Black History Month. If we’re honest, it could more accurately be called Black Liberal History Month. In typical liberal fashion, an observance once meant to highlight our American contribution, instead became 28 divisive days where we can talk bad about White folks, while they smile and take it. Not quite my idea of uniting Americans.   God made me a deep, year round brown. Running around telling folks “I’m Black! I’m Black!...

Where’s A 21st Century Doc Savage?

The Great Depression and impending Second World War birthed the father of all super heroes: a pulp novel icon named Doc Savage, The Man of Bronze.     He’s credited with inspiring diverse legendary heroes including Superman, Batman and even movie super spy, James Bond. Envisioned by author Lester Dent ( writing as Kenneth Robeson ) to be a combination of ” Sherlock Holmes’ deductive abilities, Tarzan’s outstanding physical abilities, Craig Kennedy’s scientific education, and Abraham Lincoln’s goodness–“Doc” is a uniquely American creation. The product of intense multi-disciplinary study and a brutal two hour daily exercise regimen,...

Why Replace Kwanzaa & Black History Month?

An ex-girl friend once ideologically described me as “the Blackest Black man” she knew!   In hindsight, the saving grace of past activism was my goal of first class American citizenship–not outcast status, nor being “professionally angry”, as I call those practicing 1960’s Black Power approaches. I’m not a socialist–never have been. Growing up in the 80’s meant exposure to many Marxist flavors disguised as Black nationalism, Afro-centrism and liberation theology. I never agreed with shooting cops, or redefining criminals as “political prisoners.” Dipping Jim Crow in chocolate and subjecting White folks to our experience was another non-starter. I...

America: A Secret Santa Nation!

Americans are what I call a “secret Santa nation”. We give and often anonymously.     The same hard nosed conservative preaching austerity also quietly feeds the homeless or pays distressed home owners utility bills.       President Ronald Reagan would secretly send people money who wrote the White House about their challenges. Typical of the Greatest Generation, he reached into his wallet instead of tax payers pockets to help others.       Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, gave decades and millions assisting others as part of his faith.       My...
