In my first post I stated that one of the reasons we created Tribble News is we believe that our nation can get be saved. We can turn it around. While I don’t think political action is in vain, I also don’t believe that will be the avenue from which we see redemption. In this light I want to share with you a scripture that has been on my heart.
2 Chronicles 7:14 …if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
While I am not one to claim God’s promises to Israel for the Church at large, I believe that this principle transcends Israel and the Church. If we humble ourselves, turn from our sin, and pray, we will see restoration. I take comfort in knowing that there is forgiveness for my country, but it starts with me and you. Have faith, friends, and let us have humility.
UPDATE: I totally did not realize I used the same verse that the General posted in his 10th commandment post until tonight. It has been coming to my mind often apart from reading his post.
Faith and humility. Perfect combination. Brings to mind one of my favorite verses:
He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8
