Immigration – Sins of the Fathers

Immigration is a subject I’d just as soon leave until there’s a Republican president, since Democrats have proven so untrustworthy in the enforcement of immigration law. But, since Republican leadership insists on bringing it up again, the subject is unavoidable. There are the obvious problems, such as laughable enforcement, the influx of low-wage workers, the inability to distinguish between eligible illegals, and the fact that the federal bureaucracy has never been able to handle even its current immigration tasks much better than Obamacare. And then there is one basic, underlying problem that would ensure immigration remains a problem in perpetuity:...

The Verbal Insurgency of MSNBC

What do you call those who believe their worst suppositions about other people based on race, religion or politics? – Prejudiced. What do you call a network, or political party, that trades in prejudice? – Corrupt, is the word that comes to mind. Melissa Harris-Perry mocked Mitt Romney over the adoption of his black grandson. That is prejudice. She felt normal carrying on like this at MSNBC. That is corruption – a culture of corruption. You may disagree with Mitt Romney politically, but you will seldom meet a finer, more gracious man. As you’d expect, Mitt publicly forgave MHP. When...

Let’s Get Something Straight

There’s something wrong with homosexuality. Can we agree on that?   Men and women are not designed to be that way. I’ve tried it with plumbing parts – it never works. Only male and female parts fit together right without an adapter, and I’m not going there with this. Yes, homosexuality is aberrant: deviant, divergent, abnormal, atypical, anomalous, or irregular. Why do I make this insensitive observation?  It’s not to be mean, I assure you. I just want to remind the self-righteous, indignant GLAADiators among us that the rest of us have a legitimate point of concern about their...

Dedication: Arizona Salutes Her Fallen WWII Heroes

December 7th, 1941 was, as Franklin Delano Roosevelt put it, “A date which will live in infamy.” Lost at Pearl Harbor that day were over 3,400 men – 1,177 of who were on the U.S.S. Arizona, one of the many ships sunk by the Japanese. On September 2nd, 1945, the Japanese formally surrendered on the U.S.S. Missouri. By then, about 2,000 Arizonans had died in the war. This December 7th, 2013, the 72nd anniversary of Pearl Harbor , was chosen as the day to honor these men and women, along with all veterans of WWII, as Arizona dedicated its...

This Nation, Under God

“Under God” – two little words, redacted by our Commander In Chief from his recitation of one of the greatest speeches in American history – Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. President Lincoln’s message is strikingly succinct and profound. It is both timely and timeless. It bookends our Declaration of Independence – “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights” – with its fulfillment in Liberty, paid for by the blood and treasure of the Civil War. It is often said that there are no atheists in foxholes. For Lincoln, the White House was...
